An inexpensive, reliable small-sized (30x40x20 mm) power supply that can confidently cope with powering devices that consume up to 500 milliamperes at constant load, and up to 1A for short periods. At high currents, the unit works as a current source and can be used as a charger.
The flyback converter has a current-voltage characteristic (VAC) similar to the VAC of a conventional linear power supply, with the only difference that the output current is limited at the maximum output power.
From no-load to maximum output power, the microcircuit adjusts the output voltage by varying duty cycles based on the current flowing through the feedback pin. At full load with an output voltage> 12 V DC, the output current is> 500 mA. With a further increase in the maximum load, the microcircuit begins to skip duty cycles and limits the output current by decreasing the conversion frequency.
